Workshop: Disciplined Agile in Real Life

Disciplined Agile has received lots of attention lately, especially since PMI has acquired DA in 2019. But what is it actually? And what’s the value that it concretely delivers to organizations? Disciplined Agile is a toolbox (not a framework!) and professionals and organizations are learning how to use it and why having a toolbox mindset is what the future of project management is about, rather than mastering prescriptive frameworks like we used to do in the past. In this workshop, you will learn how to use this toolbox on a real case. You will learn the basics of DA and then jump straight to a real case where YOU will be determining what the organization in the case needs to do by using the DA toolkit.

This is an interactive and engaging workshop with a concrete outcome that will be very valuable for any project manager:

1. First, the workshop will introduce participants to some basic concepts of Disciplined Agile.
2. Afterwards, a scenario will be provided, and participants will be invited to explore the Disciplined Agile toolbox in sub-groups to solve the problems of the scenario with the application of DA and in a facilitator-led way.
3. The workshop will then include a discussion and debriefing stage to consolidate the learnings.

The book "Choose your Wow" and the platform "DA Browser" will be used during the activity but participants do not need to have them at hand. They will still learn to use these resources during the activity.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the workshop, participants:

• Will have learned how Disciplined Agile works in the real world
• Have learned how to use the DA Browser
• Will have acquired practical knowledge to use DA in their own professional reality

Alcides Santopietro

Alcides is a passionate project management professional with 20 years of experience, having directed projects in over 10 countries. He’s currently a master’s degree lecturer, he trains motivated individuals to pass PMI-ACP, DASM and DASSM exams and provide mentoring and consulting services in the Agile project management field.
