Critical Path and Critical Chain - Can They Work in Harmony?

The purpose of this presentation is to discuss the application of the Theory of Constraints (ToC) to projects, including the five concepts associated with Critical Chain (CC), and how this would change the project’s course from failure to success. The discussion will include the review of a real-world project example that was impacted by multiple types of critical constraints, and how the proper implementation of the ToC would have changed the course of its outcome.

  • Learning about the Three Theory of Constraints Measurements
  • Reflecting on the relevance between it and the Three Earned Value Management Measurements
  • Understanding the Five Theory of Constraints FOCUS Steps into depth
  • Learning about the Critical Path and Critical Chain concepts
  • Understanding how to transfer a Critical Path into a Critical Chain
  • Reflecting all the learnings on a real world-class bridge project and applying the discussed methodology
