Advancing Greater Public Good Through Project Management

Josephine “Arjho” Turner believes that the heart of project management is the people doing the job and the people being served for the outcomes of the project. The presentation, “Advancing Greater Public Good Through Project Management”, will present the real-life story of an agriculturist, environmentalist, and social justice activist in using her portfolio, program, and project management skills with simple organizations and also functional type of organizations to impact communities she serves both in the Philippines and the USA. For over 20 years, the impact of Arjho's work is reflected in her passion for active civic engagements and the focus in advancing good governance and social justice through effective as well as fair policies, empowerment, public leadership and professional skills development. She will share how these experiences have inspired her to apply and earn professional credentials like the PMP, PMI-ACP, PgMP and the PfMP from the Project Management Institute (PMI) and have committed herself to help contribute to the advancement of Project Management as a profession.

Learning Outcomes

  • Inspire PMs to use their skills, talents and time to be engaged in 1 or 2 community-based projects per year, those not under the mandate of their company or not under work-related projects.
  • How to leverage your non-profit volunteerism work to apply and earn professional credentials from PMI?
  • Be a PM Mentor even to those who are not taking the PMP exam, but to those who are passionate about using project management concepts to impact their communities for the better.
