Michel Lessard
Director Michel Lessard , Eng., M.Sc.A., MBA, PMP
Mr. Lessard completed his engineering degree in 1982 at “École Polytechnique de Montréal” as well as his Masters Degree in Applied Science in 1985. In 1990, Mr. Lessard was selected to follow an intensive program at the University of Toronto in Network Engineering. In 2004, he completed the Executive MBA Program at Concordia University. Mr. Lessard has been a member of the “Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec” since 1982. He is also a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the Project Management Institute (PMI) and the “Association des MBA du Québec”. Mr. Lessard has been working for over 26 years in the information and telecommunication technology field.
He started his career with Bell Canada in 1984, moved to Stentor in 1993 and to Bell Canada International in 1999 for a 2.5 year assignment in Seoul, South Korea, as Vice-President of Engineering and Operations and the Chief Technology Officer. Returning to Canada in 2002, he became the General Manager of Product Management at Bell Canada, in charge of business voice services. In 2003, Mr. Lessard left Bell to assume the role of Director of Operations for Amdocs Canada, an Israeli company operating in outsourcing the billing platform for Bell Canada.
In 2005, Mr. Lessard started to work for a federal government agency, the National Research Council of Canada – Industrial Research Assistance Program as an industrial technology advisor. In January 2007, Mr. Lessard was appointed as the Director General Information Management Technology within the Information Management Group at National Defence. In February 2011, he moved to Natural Resources Canada to work as Director General and Chief Information Office.
