Mentoring Program Cohort 6

PMI OVOC Mentoring Program – Cohort 6

Are you an experienced PMP-certified project manager willing to share your insights about the role with less experienced PMP colleagues?   Be a Mentor!

Would you appreciate the benefit of wise counsel in your professional project management role?
Be a Protégé!

The PMI OVOC Chapter is pleased to offer a Mentoring Program. The mission of the PMI OVOC Mentoring Program is to provide interested members with mentoring support that materially helps the member on his/her journey to becoming a very effective project management practitioner.  The one-on-one Mentor/Protégé relationship formed through the Mentoring Program focuses on developing and enhancing project management competencies.

This is a great opportunity to develop in your chosen profession, whether as a Mentor or a Protégé, by learning from other professionals faced with similar responsibilities and challenges.  Your contribution will not only facilitate the growth of both yourself and your mentoring partner, but will also allow you to earn valuable PMI PDUs.

For more information about the program, review the PMI OVOC Mentoring Program Overview.

If you think that you may be a candidate for the Mentor role, the FAQ for Mentors will provide more information to help you in this decision.

If you are interested in getting involved either as a Mentor or as a Protégé, send us an email at mentoring@pmiovoc.org.

News about the Mentoring Program

On Saturday the 26th of February 2011, the 6th Mentoring Program kick-off session was held at the Hampton Inn.  All 35 confirmed persons showed up to learn more about mentoring (100% turn out!).  Although we exceeded the advertised capacity of 15 pairs, unfortunately we were not able to accommodate all of the Protégé applications this time around.  Eight of the Mentors have participated as Mentors in earlier Cohorts (“Returning Mentors”), and we were pleased to welcome 9 new Mentors to the program.  A total of 18 Mentor/Protégé pairs were formed, all of whom  left the session with their 1st meeting date and location fixed.  As the 6th Cohort, the group decided to call themselves the SIXPACK.  We wish them a lot of success!
