”CHEO’s e-documentation” project won the PMI project of the year 2010 award

PMI OVOC is happy to announce that ”CHEO’s e-documentation” project won the PMI project of the year 2010 award and the ”Major Events Coordinated Security System” project won the runner up award. The announcement with the prize distribution was held at the Annual Business meeting of the PMI Ottawa Chapter on January 21, 2011.

CHEO’s e-documentation project included the preparation, planning and implementation of all the work required for moving from paper documentation to electronic documentation for nurses and allied health staff for all inpatient units. These changes required the transformation of clinical practice and the adaptation of new tools into well established clinical workflows.
We would once again congratulate Cheryl Goudreau the PM, her team and all CHEO’s staff for this great achievement!

MECSS (Major Events Coordinated Security Solutions) project was implemented as a formal project within the Public Security Technical program, under the Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) management through the center for Security Science (CSS). The primary partners to DRDC for this project included: RCMP, V2010 Integrated Security Unit, Province of BC Integrated Public Safety, G8/20 Integrated Security Unit and the Canadian Forces.
It was established to reduce the security risks associated with the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics and the G8/20 Summits.
Again, we would congratulate Donna Wood the PM, her team and all the staff included in this partnership for this great achievement!

The Ottawa Chapter of the Project Management Institute is seeking entries for the Project of the Year 2010 competition.
The competition recognizes projects for excellence in the management of risk, schedule, resources, outcome quality and client satisfaction.
The current competition is for projects completed in calendar 2010. The registration deadline is September 30th, 2010, and the submission deadline is November 15th, 2010, and the winners will be honored in January 2011 after an independent panel of experts judges the competition in December 2010.
The competition is in the following categories: Engineering and Construction, Manufacturing, Information Technologies and Life Sciences covering profit and nonprofit organizations.
