Derek Hughes

Derek is a senior manager and military officer, functionally bilingual, with experience in project management, responsible for the contract negotiations and personnel management. Highly adaptable to all environments and dedicated to the tasks assigned. As the third level submarine maintenance Project Manager, responsible for the development and integration of the third level extended work period for the Victoria Class Submarines (VCS) for the Department of National Defence, and delivery of submarine maintenance support at the international level for the operational platforms. Derek manages all aspects of the engineering support contracts that also include logistics and production activities, and provides support and R&O services. He has also held several functions and positions such as Marine Engineer Officer of HMCS St. John’s, overseas exchange positions with Royal Navy, staff officer at Louis St Laurent in DGMEPM, Marine Systems Artificer and as an instructor at CF Naval Engineering School.
