Plenary Speakers

Sean Wise

Professor, Author, Columnist, Venture Capitalist, Entrepreneurial Evangelist, Mentor, Geek, Business Superhero. Sean Wise is all these things and so much more. He is the founder of VenCorps.com, which is attempting to revolutionize the business of seed investing in much the same way Wikipedia revolutionized the encyclopedia industry.

Sean is a Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University, where he teaches entrepreneurial perspectives to both MBAs and undergrads. He is a PhD student at the University of Glasgow. Studying collective business intelligence through collaborative online information networks in the department founded by one of his heroes, the father of modern economics, Adam Smith. He is the online host and industry advisor for CBC’s business reality show, Dragons’ Den.

Peter Johnston

As Vice-President with Lansdowne Technologies, Peter was the Project Manager for security at the recent G8/G20 Conferences in Toronto.  Peter will draw on this experience, and the experience of Lansdowne in working with the 2010 Olympics, to examine the power of project management in reducing risk for major events.

Greg Kenney

Greg Kenney will provide valuable insight into the future of project management within the Federal Government of Canada.  As an executive with Treasury Board Secretariat, and a frequent PMI conference presenter, Greg will examine the latest changes, and what the future holds.

Project success depends on effective risk management.  Speakers in this track will explore this topic and provide valuable learning opportunities to help you manage risk.

Track 2 – PM and the Future

The project management profession is growing… and changing.  Learn about emerging trends and how they may affect your career in this forward looking track.

Track 3 – PM!  What hat are you wearing today?

The project managers role is varied and PMs draw on many skill in their daily activities.  This track explores some of the skills that can help project managers get the job done.

Track 4 – The Business of Project Management

Practical sessions about the project management business, and the business of project management.

Workshop Sessions

Workshop 1 – Project Management Standards and Methodologies – How do PMBOK, Prince2, Agile, and Scrum relate?  What’s important for PMs and Executives as they try to improve professional skills and organizational competency?  Bringing in a team of subject matter experts, we will look at each approach and examine relative strengths in a presentation and panel discussion format.

Presenters:  Russ McDowell – Moderator, Abdallah Abi-Aad – PMBOK, Kellie Aindow – Agile, Peter Milsom – PRINCE2, Mai Torralba – Scrum

Workshop 2 – PM Correlation Amongst ITSM Best Practices – There are many frameworks, architectures, and standards that exist for IT, each with a different goal in mind.  In this presentation we will look how some of the most popular disciplines correlate with one another and how Project Management ties in.  We will look specifically at ITIL Version 3, COBiT 4.1, ISO/IEC 20000, and TOGAF 9.  Join us to learn about ITSM best practices, how the different models can work together, and where to begin.

Due to special agreements with your organizations, we are please to extend you PMI OVOC Member pricing!  If you are a member of these organizations, but not a member of PMI OVOC, please email us with your full name, the name of your association (i.e. RiskSIG or ITSMF), and your membership number.

PDUs

By attending the two day conference we expect certified members to be able to claim up to 14 PDUs. The number of PDUs you can claim will be provided when you attend the conference.

Delegates wishing to claim PDUs will need to complete a PDU claim form (either on-line or the paper version). Each delegate is responsible for monitoring their own attendance (including keeping records for future audit purposes) and claim submission. One claim is needed for the conference, not one per session.
